Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes may be acclaimed figures in Hollywood, but to their daughters, Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 8, they're simply mom and dad. Gosling, 43, candidly shares with PEOPLE that their celebrity status holds little sway over their daughters' perception of them. Despite being prominent actors in the industry, Gosling emphasizes that, in the eyes of their children, they are primarily nurturing parents above all else.

Reflecting on a moment when Mendes, 50, made a guest appearance on the popular children's show "Bluey," Gosling, a nominee for the prestigious Barbie Oscar, chuckles as he recalls the lack of enthusiasm from their daughters. Despite their anticipation for the episode, which Mendes voiced a yoga instructor in, the girls surprisingly showed disinterest, prompting them to fast-forward through their mother's part.

Gosling's latest cinematic venture, "The Fall Guy," directed by David Leitch, was met with a similar lukewarm response from Esmeralda and Amada. Despite Gosling's eagerness to undertake daring stunts for the action-packed comedy, his daughters exercised their parental authority, vetoing any scenes involving their father being set on fire. Gosling humorously recounts their firm stance, admitting, "My kids didn't want me to be set on fire, so I didn't do it."

Emily Blunt, Gosling's co-star in "The Fall Guy," echoes similar sentiments, sharing that her daughters, Hazel, 9, and Violet, 7, have little interest in seeing their parents on the silver screen. Blunt, nominated for an Oppenheimer Oscar, acknowledges the peculiarity of children witnessing their parents in roles other than parental figures, understanding their reluctance to engage with her performances.

Both Gosling and Mendes prioritize their family's well-being in their career decisions. Gosling recently expressed in WSJ. Magazine his avoidance of roles that delve into dark themes to maintain a harmonious home life. Similarly, Mendes has been selective about her acting projects, opting out of roles involving violence or sexuality since becoming a mother.
