Instead of undergoing a full trial and an eventual voting from members of the Academy, Will Smith decided to resign from it instead. In a recent statement where he explains his reasons, the actor that recently won the Oscar for his performance in 'King Richard' decided to quit the Academy for good.

This comes in the wake of a complete scandal that formed after he physically assaulted Chris Rock as the comedian made a joke about his wife's bald head. Rock had no idea Jada Pinkett Smith suffered alopecia, which is the main reason he decided to tell the joke in the first place.

Oscars producer Will Packer said Los Angeles police were ready to arrest Will Smith after Smith slapped Chris Rock on the Academy Awards stage.

“They were saying, you know, this is battery, was a word they used in that moment,” Packer said in a clip released by ABC News Thursday night of an interview he gave to “Good Morning America.

Will Smith is finally starting to see the consequences of slapping Chris Rock at the 94th Oscars, with new revealing information about the incident that was published by the Academy. In an official press release about the entire incident, they confirmed that Will Smith was in fact asked to leave the Dolby Theatre but he vehemently refused.

He wanted to stay despite violating rules that the Academy put in place in order to have control of the event. We all know how the rest of the night progressed as Smith received his Oscar and got on stage to deliver a surreal acceptance speech without even apologizing to Chris Rock for assaulting him.
