Danileigh is a Dominican-American singer who became famous when her song, “Easy” featuring Chris Brown’s vocals went viral. According to Danileigh, her Dominican upbringing influenced her love for dance and music. She started out doing song covers and posting them on YouTube when she was just 14. Her first successful single was “play”, released in 2017.

In a viral video circulating various social media platforms, Danileigh gets emotional talking about her music career. She has been dropping various singles and albums but they have not been well received by the general public. This is because Danileigh let her personal life get between her music. This happened when she posted a snippet of her song “yellow bone”, a slang for light skinned women. She sang, “Yellow bone is what he wants...”. This was considered colourist, racist and offensive, therefore her fans started blacklisting her.

Danileigh was in a romantic relationship with controversial rapper Dababy. Their personal issues were displayed publicly and might have had a negative impact on her career. A video circulating at the time showing Dababy chasing Danileigh and their then 3 month old child out of his Charlotte, North Carolina apartment in the middle of the night. She was also hit with two counts of simple assault after Dababy called the police on her.

“It’s just crazy how soon as l dropped that album, first of all, COVID was happening and then l did some stupid sh*t, and then it’s just like boom, it stopped everything.” She did not make it clear what “stupid shit” she was referring to, but that was around the time she previewed “Yellow bone.”

She also questioned why her 2020 album “movie” did not do well. She claimed that her music didn’t get the opportunity to do well because her record label did not push it. She questions why her song “Tasty” did not get the recognition it deserved and she assumed that the trouble she got into might’ve been the reason. She did not go into details, however, around that time, she had a felony hit and run charge on May 30, 2023, just two days after dropping “tasty”.

She also takes accountability for her past action and stated she is human and still growing. She also claimed that the video was not for the internet to see, instead, she had posted it for her Snapchat friends.
