As thousands of Taylor Swift fans eagerly lined up Thursday for the superstar’s first-ever concert in Argentina, they saw themselves surrounded by posters urging them to not vote in favor of right-wing populist Javier Milei in next week’s presidential election.

“A Swiftie Doesn’t Vote Milei,” read one of the posters, using the term commonly used to describe fans of the 12-time Grammy winner.

Some Swifties agreed. “Taylor defends lots of positions and things that Milei doesn’t represent,” said 17-year-old Julieta Bracamontes. “That sign is right and I agree with it.”

Colombian footballer Luis Diaz has begged the rebel group which kidnapped his parents to release his father after scoring a late equaliser for Liverpool upon his return to action for the English Premier League club.

Diaz had missed Liverpool’s last two matches but had been training since Thursday, and was selected on the bench for the match against Luton on Sunday.

He entered the game in the 83rd minute as a late substitute and scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw for his team at Kenilworth Road.

An indefinite moratorium on new mining activities passed a second vote in Panama's National Assembly Thursday. One article was removed, however, that would have revoked a controversial mining contract which had sparked nationwide protests over the past two weeks.

The bill had already passed a second debate on Wednesday while it still included an article revoking the government's contract with Minera Panama, a local subsidiary of Canadian mining company First Quantum.

Lawmakers reversed that decision Thursday, sending the bill back to a second debate and stripping the article specifically related to the Minera Panama contract.
