Canelo Alvarez made waves on social media following his controversial tweet about Lionel Messi.

According to the boxer, the Argentine player disrespected Mexico by placing the team's jersey on the ground while celebrating the 2-0 victory over El Tri. Several Argentines jumped to the defense of their idol, but one of them, journalist Pablo Carrozza, went too far.

Carrozza's response
After posting the tweet, Carrozza went all out against Canelo. "Che, boxing is one of the most beautiful sports, but it's clear that so many punches have affected your brain cells."

Then he went on to defend the Argentine player. "Messi must be the most polite and well-behaved sportsman on earth. You are a showman, you are hot because we beat you again."

However, the most serious comment came in the following tweet, where he got personal with the Mexican.

"Before criticizing Messi, Canelo should talk about his dark side with alcohol and how he wanted to get with his own daughter on her 15th birthday," he wrote.

David Faitelson, Sergio Aguero and Cesc Fabregas are some of the names who have rushed to Messi's defense on social media. Nevertheless, Canelo continues to insist that what Messi did was offensive: "Since the MEXICO shirt is on the ground it's already an insult."
