Los Angeles Rams' newly acquired backup quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, opened up about his recent two-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substances policy. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Garoppolo admitted to a "mistake" regarding his failure to obtain a valid therapeutic-use exemption, despite the prescribed nature of the medication.

Although the suspension won't impact his participation in offseason programs, the 32-year-old quarterback will face restrictions once the regular season commences. Garoppolo expressed optimism about the situation, hoping that the first two games will "pass by" and that the team will secure victories in his absence.

Garoppolo's journey to the Rams comes on the heels of a one-year deal after spending a season with the Las Vegas Raiders. The seasoned quarterback, who signed a lucrative three-year contract with the Raiders previously, now finds himself in Los Angeles as a backup to Matthew Stafford.

Garoppolo knows the NFC West very well

Eager to integrate into Coach Sean McVay's offensive system, Garoppolo finds comfort in the familiarity of the coaching staff and the offensive scheme, which shares roots with the coaching style of Mike Shanahan. Reflecting on his decision to join the Rams, Garoppolo emphasized the allure of playing alongside talented teammates and the appeal of McVay's offensive vision.

"Aside from the suspension setback, Garoppolo remains focused on contributing to the Rams' success and maintaining a positive mindset as he prepares to make his mark in Los Angeles."
