Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, known as YoungBoy Never Broke Again, faced arrest in Utah on six charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and a pattern of unlawful activity, both classified as Class 2 felony charges. Taken into custody by the Cache County Sheriff's Office at 2:50 p.m., Gaulden, 24, commonly recognized for his collaborations with artists like Migos, Juice World, and Tyler, the Creator, remains detained without bail.

Additional charges against Gaulden include attempting to procure drugs/prescription, identity fraud, forgery, and possession of other controlled substances. The Louisiana-born rapper had been under strict house arrest following two arrests during a 2020 music video shoot. Indicted in March 2021 after an incident where he was allegedly found with two firearms alongside 16 others arrested for drug and weapon offenses during a music video filming, Gaulden awaits trial on those gun-related charges.

In December, a federal judge adjusted the terms of his house arrest to allow Gaulden access to mental health treatments, though his plea for extended studio time was rejected. Previously, in 2022, Gaulden was acquitted of "knowingly" possessing a firearm during a separate arrest in Los Angeles in 2021. Pulled over by the LAPD and apprehended after a brief pursuit, a firearm was discovered beneath the passenger seat of his vehicle.

Throughout his legal battles, Gulden's lyrics have been a contentious issue. During his trials, a district court judge excluded their use as evidence. Gaulden's personal reflections also garnered attention. In a 2023 Billboard cover story, he expressed remorse for his past violent lyrical content and revealed aspirations to embrace the Mormon faith.
