Arsenal and Man city have finally been knocked out after a deep struggle in the champions league title race. These two were the only remaining premier league teams after Manchester United and Newcastle were knocked out.

Arsenal faced Bayern Munich in a heated match at Emirates stadium that ended in a draw of 2-2. Man city on the other hand faced Real Madrid in a tight match that also ended in a draw of 3-3 on Tuesday 9th of April.

Yesterday April 17th, Arsenal and Bayern Munich met again at Allianz arena in Munich. The game ended with no goals in the first half. In the second half, Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich, gave Bayern it's winning goal in the 62nd minute.

At the same time, Manchester City hosted Real Madrid where Rodrygo gave Real Madrid an early lead in the 12th minute of the game. In the second half, Kevin De Bruyne revived Man City's hope by scoring an equalizer in the 76th minute. The game ended 1-1 in the second half and also in the extra time leading to penalties to decide. Real Madrid won in the penalty shoot outs knocking out the current Champions League title holders.

“We played exceptionally in all departments, and unfortunately, we could not win.”Guardiola said.

Guardiola refused to blame Bernardo for his failure to score in the shoot out.

He said: “Bernardo asked to take it, he’s a reliable player and decided to shoot in that way. What a game he had played. It happens.”

“I don’t judge,” he said. “I’m not here to do this. It’s football. In this competition, that’s the way football happens.”

Real's manager Carlo Ancelotti: “We defended really, really well. This was about survival. Madrid is a club based on always fighting to stay in situations where there seems to be no way out – but we always find a way.''

“I’m obviously very sad," Arteta said via arsenal.com. "The dressing room is very disappointed. We had a lot of hope and invested a lot to go through, but the margins in this competition are super small, and we lacked to make the difference in those moments. We had our moments again. I think the team played with a lot of personality, but we lacked that magic moment at some stage or to force a mistake, because that happens as well to go through in the tie. We have to congratulate Bayern; they have done it, and they are through.”

Bayern will face Real Madrid in the semi finals on April 30th.
