Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez still has not announced who his next opponent will be, although the WBC has already confirmed David Benavidez as his mandatory challenger.

David Benavidez fights this Saturday against Demetrius Andrade, after that it could be confirmed or dismissed if he is the next opponent of Canelo Alvarez, but candidates are not lacking.

The much-anticipated showdown between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and David Benavidez is expected to take place in 2024.

Although the Mexican could have faced the American this year, he declined the bout, citing Benavidez's penchant for verbal provocations as an inappropriate approach to securing a fight.

Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez defended Canelo's decision, asserting that it wasn't rooted in fear but rather a recognition that the conflict between the two fighters was inevitable.

It had been talked about for months that Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder could meet in a potential massive fight. Unfortunately, it never came to fruition. But at the very least, fans will be treated to being able to watch both of them on the same night.

Matchroom Boxing confirmed on Wednesday their "Day of Reckoning" event, which will feature Wilder and Joshua fighting against Joseph Parker and Otto Wallin, respectively. As if that wasn't enough for boxing purists, WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol will also be fighting on the same card.
