The Cincinnati Bengals will play in Super Bowl LVI against the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday, Feb. 13, and if they are surprisingly in that spot it is in large part because of the superb play of their quarterback and face of the franchise, second-year player Joe Burrow.

Therefore, Burrow's health must be at its peak if the Bengals are to pull off another big upset and defeat the Rams, who will be playing at their own home, SoFi Stadium, during the Vince Lombardi Trophy game.

A San Francisco 49ers fan in a medically-induced coma fell after he was punched during a parking lot confrontation with an apparent Rams fan at the NFC championship game, the mayor of Inglewood said Thursday.

Daniel Luna, 40, remained hospitalized after Sunday's fight while police sought his attacker based on a blurry video and the license plate of a car, Mayor James T. Butts Jr. said at a news conference.

Luna, who owns a restaurant in Oakland, was mingling in a crowd of about 16 people at SoFi Stadium, most of them wearing what appeared to be 49ers jerseys, when he pushed a man wearing a Rams jersey from behind, Butts said after viewing the video.

During Sunday, after a disastrous defeat against the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke about how this second loss in the AFC Championship has given him a better appreciation for Tom Brady.

Mahomes discussed the standard Tom Brady set during his career and the obstacles he and the team must face year after year just to make it to the Super Bowl.

"His career is one of a kind. That's why he's the GOAT," Mahomes said. "To win that many Super Bowls, to be in that many games, it's hard, and I understand that. After the years that I've had, I've been close a lot, but I've only been there twice and won one. I understand that it takes a special player, a special group of guys, special circumstances for that to happen."

Cincinnati came from 21-3 down to win the AFC Championship game 27-24 at the much-fancied Kansas City Chiefs.

The Rams recovered from 17-7 behind to beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 to lift the NFC Championship.

Super Bowl 56 takes place at the Rams' So-Fi Stadium on 13 February.

The Rams' triumph means a Super Bowl will feature a home team for the second successive year after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium in 2021.

The Kansas City Chiefs (No. 2 seed) will host the AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals (No. 4 seed) after defeating the Buffalo Bills (No. 3 seed) in overtime Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium on a night that featured three lead changes in the final two minutes of action.

In the fourth quarter, after the two-minute warning, Josh Allen ended a 17-play drive with a touchdown pass to Gabriel Davis that would give Bills a three-point lead. During that possession, Buffalo took seven minutes off the clock, but Patrick Mahomes would not flinch, going back down the field and into the end zone thanks to Tyreek Hill's 50-yard run after the catch to regain the advantage on the board.
