Darrell Sheets, who starred on Storage Wars from 2010 to 2023, was discovered dead at a residence in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, around 2 a.m. on April 22, according to police. He was 67.
Lake Havasu City Police officers were dispatched to a residence following a report of a deceased person. The man, later identified as Sheets, appeared to have committed suicide and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
His body has been turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office, and the case is still under investigation.
Sheets began his flipping business more than 30 years ago, searching for treasures by bidding on unclaimed storage units.
"I have found everything from scrap crap to Picassos in storage units," he said in his Fox Business bio. "They call me the Gambler because I take the risks, bet big, and come out on top!"
Sheets said that, more than the thrill of the hunt, he loved his family, including his longtime partner Kimber Naisbitt Pino.
"Kimber is the love of my life and is my biggest supporter of this unique business that I'm in," he said. "I have two kids, Kimber has two kids, and between us we have four beautiful grandchildren that I love being around."
In addition, his son Brandon Sheets is following in the family business, attending every auction alongside his father.
"Darrell takes pride in the adventure and education storage buying has provided him," according to A&E. "It's a lifestyle and skill set he hopes to pass on to his son."
Indeed, Sheets told Fox, "I am fortunate to have my son with me every day. I come from a large family, and I'm the practical jokester among them."
When he wasn't chasing the "high" of acquiring valuable storage units, he enjoyed boating and playing drums and guitar.
Sheets—who also appeared on Rachael Ray and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno—was also a dog lover, sharing a photo of his pups on Instagram in 2023 with the caption, "And on what day did God create man's best friend and call it dog His name backwards, these guys are really giving me a lot of joy."
