Tom Holland has offered a highly anticipated update on the next Spider-Man film, revealing that the project is finally progressing. During his appearance on The Rich Roll Podcast, Holland confirmed that he and his co-star Zendaya recently read a draft of the script for Spider-Man 4. This marks the first significant update on the film since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.

"We have a creative and we have a pitch and a draft, which is excellent," Holland said. "It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job. I read it three weeks ago, and it really lit a fire in me." The actor added that Zendaya, who plays MJ in the series, read the script with him. "We sat down and read it together, and at times we were bouncing around the living room like this is a real movie worthy of the fans' respect."

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have been eagerly awaiting updates on Spider-Man's return, particularly with rumors swirling around potential multiverse storylines. Holland, however, emphasized the logistical challenges of making a film within the larger MCU. "One of the things to bear in mind with Marvel is that your film is a small cog in a large machine," Holland explained. "And that machine has got to keep running. You need to make sure you can fit into that timeline at the right time to benefit the bigger picture. That's one of the challenges we're facing."

Despite these challenges, Holland remains optimistic about the film's potential. "The time in which we need to get that done is a tall order but definitely achievable with the fantastic people we have working on it now," he added.

Additionally, the actor hinted at a potential future for Miles Morales in the MCU, expressing his hope to bring the character into the Spider-Man universe. "If I would be lucky enough to somehow bring Miles Morales into my Spider-Man universe and into the MCU, I'd love to do for a young kid what [Robert] Downey [Jr.] did for me," Holland said.
