Sofía Vergara has offered some insight into her relationship status with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman, despite being linked to him for over a year. In a recent interview with Us Weekly, the 52-year-old Modern Family actress referred to herself as "kind of single," even though the couple was spotted together shortly after the comment.
During her appearance at The Infatuation's EEEEEATSCON New York event on October 13, Sofía was asked about her dating life. When questioned whether she still thinks New York City is the best place to date, as she previously mentioned, she responded with a laugh, "Totally. Actually, I was talking yesterday about it because now I'm single so ... kind of single."
However, just a week later on October 20, Sofía was seen with Justin during a dinner outing in Los Angeles. She even tried to avoid the cameras by ducking down while driving away with him.
Vergara first went public with her relationship with Saliman in April 2023 after sharing a photo of him on her Instagram Story. In a humorous caption referring to her knee surgery, she wrote, "If u ever get a major knee surgery make sure u get a handsome doctor who will sleep with u that night!!!!" The post confirmed their relationship, marking her first since her split from actor Joe Manganiello, whom she divorced in July 2023 after seven years of marriage.
In the interview, Sofía shared why she believes New York City is an ideal place for romance. She highlighted the city's diverse population, stating, "There's a more diverse group of people in New York than in L.A. because most of the people are in the entertainment business. People from all over the world—architects, writers, actors, businesspeople."
Sofía also touched on her past with Joe Manganiello, sharing that their divorce stemmed from differing views on having children. Joe has since denied this claim, stating that the couple simply "grew apart." Despite the split, Sofía joked about how she was still making use of her "J" tattoo, initially for Joe, but now fittingly for Justin, saying, "How lucky can I be that the guy that I'm going out with has the same initial? Recycle, recycle!"
