John Krasinski was taken aback when he learned he'd been chosen as People's 2024 Sexiest Man Alive.

"When I found out, my mind just went blank. Honestly, I thought it might be a prank," he jokes in this week's cover story. "You never wake up expecting to be named the Sexiest Man Alive, so this definitely raised the bar for me."

Known for his iconic role as Jim Halpert on The Office, his intense portrayal of a CIA agent in Jack Ryan, and his heartwarming character in A Quiet Place, Krasinski, 45, is a beloved star. But, to him, life is simpler—he's happiest as a husband, father, and documentary binge-watcher who loves story time with his kids.

Now settled in Brooklyn with his wife of 14 years, actress Emily Blunt, 41, and their two daughters, Hazel, 10, and Violet, 8, Krasinski says Blunt was thrilled by the news: "She was genuinely excited when I told her." She's even joked about covering the house in his magazine cover. "Is that a binding contract?" he teases. "My kids would love that... or maybe find it a little strange."

Over the years, Krasinski has worn many hats in Hollywood. Following his nine-season run on The Office, he co-wrote, directed, and starred in A Quiet Place, a hit thriller that spawned sequels. After training intensively for his role in 13 Hours, he brought that action experience to the Jack Ryan series, which is now set for a film adaptation.

Krasinski's recent project, IF, saw him as writer, producer, director, and star, securing his place among Hollywood's elite filmmakers. Still, the journey took persistence. "It took me about 54 pitches to get A Quiet Place greenlit," he recalls. His upcoming project, Fountain of Youth, stars him alongside Natalie Portman in an action heist film.

Reflecting on his marriage to Blunt, he says, "The amazing part of marriage is constantly learning and growing with someone. I feel lucky to go through that with her."

As for his new title? Krasinski laughs, "I think it just means I'll be doing more chores at home now. Emily will definitely make me earn it."
