It was unexpected for Jeff Dye that his final interaction with Kristin Cavallari would be featured on her podcast. The comedian, who for months in 2021 was associated with the former cast member of The Hills, recalled the day he was arrested for DUI in October 2023 and the part he claimed Kristin played in his legal battle.
On The Adam Carolla Show on November 20, he recalled, "I hadn't seen my ex for like, two years," and she said, "I'm in LA." "Let's grab coffee."
Jeff claims that he had been out late the previous evening and had fallen asleep in spite of his alarm.
She is, 'Where are you?' FaceTiming me. He went on, "I'm at the coffee shop." "I get into my vehicle; I accelerate as quickly as I can, but I might feel fine."
But when the 41-year-old claimed to have lost control of his car and collided with a tree, things swiftly changed. He dismissed it, saying it was "a big crash," and made the decision to run the few miles to meet Kristin, 37, for coffee.
"As I arrive, my heart is racing. Before police arrived at their coffee shop, I had only seen her and the baristas I know for roughly three minutes," Jeff remarked. 'Hey, did you drive here?' asks them. And I think, "Huh? What's happening? I simply pretended to be stupid.
In the end, they arrested Jeff and charged him with DUI. Kristin later related this story on the Let's Be Honest podcast episode that aired on October 24, 2023, and Jeff mentioned that it was used against him in court.
Jeff clarified, "The state said, according to Kristin Cavallari's podcast, you smelled of alcohol." He added that although she may not have given the subject much thought, for him, "It broke my life open."
Additionally, Jeff claimed that he suffered as a result of the subsequent media attention.
"I believe they believe, 'Well, what the heck? Who is Jeff Dye? Actually, Kristin Cavallari is someone I like. She has a fantastic podcast and is attractive. She is in the spotlight and is cool. She's in TMZ, too. "Who gives a damn about this alcoholic loser comedian?" he asked. "I've heard everything. I've read everything. We're forgetting that I'm a human, though. I certainly didn't deserve that.
