A jury ruled in favor of a woman who accused Irish UFC superstar Conor McGregor of sexually assaulting her in a hotel room in December 2018. The high Court in Dublin ordered McGregor to pay the complainant 248,000 euros, or around $257,000. The complainant, Nikita Hand alleged that McGregor had “brutally raped” her and battered her, however, he has continually denied the claims.

“People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me,” he wrote. “As much as I regret it, everything that happened was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision.”

Following the court ruling, McGregor lost a video game deal with IO interactive. They also removed all content featuring the athlete from their storefront. They went ahead to claim they take the matter very seriously and cannot ignore the implications.

Conor McGregor’s fiancée, Dee Delvin took to Instagram to support him. “ Imagine a woman with her own boyfriend and child, texting provocative pictures to another woman’s man with a family and a child on the way. This woman claims to know me, yet she still went ahead and sent messages and pictures of herself over and over to my man? Really?” she wrote. She went ahead to write that her sons will be warned that women like her exist in the world.

“CCTV DOES NOT LIE. I look forward to the day the world will see the footage of you on that night and the carry in of you. Not s bother on you having the time of your life. This is the real evidence, video footage no one knew was being taken in the moment which you miraculously don’t remember? To me it looks like you’re the one sexually assaulting in the lift. To me it looks like everyone is trying to get away from you,” she continued.
