Connie Francis, the legendary singer behind the 1962 hit "Pretty Little Baby," has been hospitalized in Florida, according to multiple reports and her own social media posts. The 87-year-old music icon is undergoing treatment and, at one point, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Sources close to the family revealed to TMZ that while the specific reason for her hospitalization is unclear, Francis has dealt with various orthopedic issues in recent years. In March 2025, she disclosed that she was using a wheelchair due to a "troublesome painful hip" and was awaiting stem cell therapy.

On July 2, Francis confirmed the news via Facebook, writing that she was "back in hospital" and "undergoing tests and checks to determine the cause(s) of the extreme pain" she has been experiencing. She added, "I had hoped to take part in Brucie's show for Independence Day, having had to cancel a previous slot a few weeks ago when receiving treatment on my hip. Sadly, I had to let him know that I again had to withdraw. My thanks for your many get well soon messages. I will endeavor to keep you updated. Love, Connie."

Later that day, she updated fans that she had been moved from the ICU to a private room. "Thank you all for your kind thoughts, words and prayers. They mean so much! Love, Connie," she wrote.

Francis's health challenges span decades. She lost her voice for seven years following nasal surgery in the 1970s and battled mental health issues, including PTSD, after surviving a rape in 1974. Her brother's murder and a miscarriage further impacted her wellbeing. Despite these challenges, Francis continued to leave a mark on the music industry.

Her song "Pretty Little Baby" has recently seen a massive resurgence on TikTok. Initially released as a B-side in 1962, the track went viral in 2025, featured in over 17 million videos and amassing more than 27 billion views. "To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is touching the hearts of millions of people is truly awesome," she told PEOPLE in May. "It's thrilling that kindergarten kids know my name."

Francis, who retired from the music industry in 2018, was the first woman to top the Billboard Hot 100 with "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" and has sold over 200 million records globally.
