Maya Hawke has revealed that filming the final season of "Stranger Things" has been an emotional journey. Joining the cast in Season 3 as Robin Buckley, Hawke is feeling the weight of the show's impending end, particularly for her co-stars who have been part of the series from the beginning.

"It's already starting to be heartbreaking, you know? I mean, it's the end of a really long journey," Hawke shared during the Inside Out 2 premiere. She expressed her role as a support system for her fellow cast members, stating, "As a late addition cast member, I feel like it's my job to be here to facilitate their feelings and just be grateful and excited to have been a part of it all."

Reflecting on the series' impact, Hawke noted the significant personal and professional growth many cast members have experienced. "It's really sentimental," she continued, acknowledging the deep bonds formed over the eight-year run.

Despite the bittersweet emotions, the cast finds joy in their daily work on set. "We shoot for a long time, so it’s reinvigorating [to bring] the joy and finding it every day and making it new. It's a really fun thing to do," Hawke said.

As anticipation builds for the final season, Hawke hinted at an exciting conclusion. "I do know what happens before then and it’s extremely exciting," she told Collider. The show's creators, the Duffer Brothers, have promised an epic and emotionally satisfying finale. Series director Shawn Levy emphasized this, stating the final season will be "epic in its cinematic scope" and rival blockbuster movies in both length and scale.

With the last season set to premiere in 2024, fans and cast members alike are preparing for an emotional farewell to the beloved series. "It's really an emotional thing to go into filming this last season, so I’m excited," Hawke concluded.
