Zachary Quinto, best known for his roles in "Star Trek" and "American Horror Story," was recently banned from the Toronto restaurant Manita. The restaurant accused Quinto of mistreating their staff and making a scene, causing discomfort among other diners. Manita, which describes itself as a "Mediterranean-ish bistro," detailed the incident on their Instagram Stories.
The restaurant's post stated, "Zachary Quinto - an amazing Spock, but a terrible customer," and accused him saying "Yelled at staff like an entitled child after he didn’t reply to two texts to inform him his table was ready and refused to believe the empty tables in the dining room weren’t available for him despite being politely informed they were spoken for."
The altercation reportedly began when Quinto failed to respond to texts notifying him that his table was ready. He then refused to accept that the empty tables in the dining room were reserved, despite being informed by the staff. His behavior "Made our host cry and the rest of our brunch diners uncomfortable,” according to the restaurant.
The statement concluded with a firm message: "Mr. Quinto, take your bad vibes somewhere else, we have many lovely celebrities join us at Manita but you are NOT one of them." The restaurant later added, "This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last time an irate guest has taken their frustrations out on our staff. Manita is deeply grateful for our mostly incredible, friendly, gracious guests who may give us constructive feedback from time to time."
"To all the other Zachary Quintos out there, on behalf of restaurant workers everywhere: We aren’t above criticism, but we are above being demeaned," the restaurant said.
Quinto was in Toronto celebrating his 47th birthday, sharing moments from his trip on Instagram. He posted photos from Canada’s Wonderland amusement park and a picture of himself with a birthday cake. However, it's unclear if the cake photo was taken at Manita. Quinto's publicist has yet to respond to requests for comment.
