Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is facing serious legal trouble following a violent altercation at a celebrity boxing event in Miami on May 16. Authorities in Miami-Dade County, Florida, have issued a warrant for Brown's arrest on a charge of attempted murder with a firearm.

According to the Washington Post, the arrest warrant alleges that Brown, 36, physically assaulted a man during a brawl outside the event, then grabbed a firearm from a security guard and fired two shots as he pursued the same individual. "One of the bullets grazed his neck," the victim later told police. He was treated at a nearby hospital for his injuries.

The incident took place during a boxing event hosted by streamer Adin Ross. Surveillance and cellphone videos reportedly show Brown engaged in a fight before fleeing the scene with a black pistol. Gunshots were heard shortly after, and additional footage captured Brown being temporarily detained with his hands behind his back.

A security guard told police he saw Brown "physically confronting another man" outside the venue, and multiple witnesses identified Brown as the shooter. Officers recovered two shell casings and an empty gun holster but did not find a weapon on Brown at the time. The victim told police he had known Brown since 2022.

Brown later addressed the situation on social media, stating he was "jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewellery and cause physical harm." He added, "Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I went home that night and was not arrested."

The warrant, signed on June 5, sets a $10,000 bond and stipulates house arrest pending trial. The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office declined to comment, and Brown has not issued any formal public response.

This attempted murder charge adds to a series of legal issues Brown has faced since leaving the NFL. Once regarded as one of the league's top receivers—catching 928 passes for 12,291 yards and 83 touchdowns—Brown's career ended in 2021 after a dramatic exit during a Buccaneers game. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning a Super Bowl in 2020.
