Patrick Mahomes is keeping his focus on football after the Kansas City Chiefs brought Justin Tucker into the team, but he says there was never any lasting hostility between the two.

The Chiefs signed Tucker to their practice squad on Wednesday, October 28, making him the first team to offer the kicker a contract since he served a 10-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Asked about the move, Mahomes avoided giving a strong opinion on the decision.

"We have a lot of people that have kind of added in and out. I try not to get too high or too low on anything," he told reporters, adding that he trusted general manager Brett Veach and the team's management to bring in good players.

Tucker has been out of the league since the end of the 2024 season amid allegations of sexual misconduct involving massage therapists. Sixteen women accused him of inappropriate conduct during appointments between 2012 and 2016. He has denied the allegations.

Mahomes also addressed his previous encounter with Tucker, which dates back to the January 2024 AFC Championship Game between Kansas City and the Baltimore Ravens.

Before the game, Mahomes and teammate Travis Kelce became frustrated with Tucker, who was then playing for Baltimore, over his equipment being left in the area where the Chiefs were warming up. Kelce kicked Tucker's footballs away from the practice area.

Mahomes said the incident had not affected their relationship. "We haven't had a lot of conversations because he's obviously on the Ravens and I was on the Chiefs," he said. "But it wasn't like we ever had any beef or anything like that."

He described the exchange as a case of players competing ahead of an important game, adding that he had moved on after Kansas City won and advanced to the Super Bowl. "There was nothing hostile," Mahomes said of their relationship after the game.
