Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson, the only couple from Love Is Blind season five to wed, are officially ending their nearly three-year marriage. On the June 11 episode of What's the Reality? podcast hosted by fellow Love Is Blind alum Amber Desiree "AD" Smith, Lydia revealed she had decided to file for divorce.

"I have decided to file for divorce against Milton. It wasn't one thing. It was a layer of situations and things that just kept piling up," Lydia explained. She claimed that when she informed Milton of her intentions, he responded, "I'm not going to sign the papers unless there's an NDA." That, she said, "was enough for me to know that I needed to share my truth."

Lydia disclosed that the relationship has been "non existent" since March 31. Though she described the beginning of their marriage as a "fairy tale," she stated that problems began six months in. "At the beginning, everything was beautiful [and] perfect. He loved me for who I was," she said. However, their first major disagreement reportedly arose when Milton refused to cut ties with an ex-girlfriend.

She went on to allege that throughout their marriage, she was made to feel small. "He would scold me in front of his family because I was cussing too much," she claimed. "It kept making me feel small." Lydia also said she was accused of nagging and disrespecting him for wearing swimsuits, and that Milton never complimented her, even on social media.

Lydia shared her experience of dealing with fibromyalgia, diagnosed in September 2024, and claimed Milton was unsupportive. "Instead of him being my support [system], he told me, 'You're not dying. You just have to eat healthy and work out.'" When she requested a medical leave, she alleged his response was, "'F*** no.'" She added, "At that time, he was not even paying my bills."

Lydia, 33, denied that their seven-year age gap was the cause of their separation. "I don't think it was the age gap," she said, pointing instead to a lack of "emotional availability, maturity, support and communication."

Despite the pain, Lydia acknowledged Milton's impact on her life. "He was the first man to love me, and that is not something small," she said. Still, she concluded, "Love is not enough. I'm never going to settle for less than I deserve."
