The outcome of Kristin Cavallari's blast from the past was not what she had anticipated.
The reunion between the Laguna Beach alum and her first boyfriend did not go well during the June 11 episode of E!'s Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour.
Before one of her live Let's Be Honest podcast shows in Illinois, Kristin revealed, "I'm going to be pulling up Johnny, my very first boyfriend from Chicago," in a confessional. "I've discussed him on the podcast a few times. At the tender ages of 13 and 14, we were as enamored as it is possible to be."
The 38-year-old observed that because Johnny isn't in the spotlight and they haven't seen one another in 15 years, he was "nervous" about being a guest.
"For people who don't do this, it's f--king nerve-wracking," Kristin added. "So, I even appreciate him getting up."
The reality star also believed that reuniting with the man she lost her virginity to would be enjoyable.
"Johnny was actually coming to the Chicago show anyway," she explained in a confessional. "My first thought was, 'Wait a minute, this could be really fun.'" We are all aware of how challenging it is to move on from your first love. And I do question whether I've altered the story in my head over the years. It will be fantastic to hear his point of view.
However, the confrontation was more combative than Kristin had anticipated when Johnny was eventually hauled up on stage.
"I would wake up in the morning, and I would have poems on my window," Kristin said after explaining their relationship to the audience. Johnny broke the silence with another memory. "You would awaken beside me. That's the version on the podcast," he shot back. To be clear, you would really show up to greet me dressed exactly like this. It's difficult, as I witnessed when you came out in this.
Kristin was taken aback by the awkward remark, but worse was yet to come. Then Johnny said that Kristin had a wandering eye.
"Before you left, you were sampling Barrington, [Ill.]," he continued. "You broke my heart, actually, because you hooked up with my best friend [Tommy]."
A startled Kristin refuted the assertion. "I don't even remember Tommy," she shot back. "I hooked up with Tommy?!"
Kristin was upset with Johnny for trying to make her look like the bad one in her relationship. She felt that Johnny was a letdown and that her memories of him were ruined. The next day, Kristin was still fuming over the uncomfortable interaction and expressed her hatred towards Johnny.
After the show, Kristin received a text from Johnny thanking her for the escape from reality and promising that he would crush the rest of his tour. This incident sparked Kristin's dissatisfaction with men from her past, including her former Laguna Beach costar and boyfriend Talan Torriero. She admitted that she no longer cares about looking like an idiot in front of the audience and that it is a theme in her life.
Kristin now realizes that she has allowed men into her life and sees it as a reminder of how far she's come. She now sees the men in her life as a reminder of how far she's come.
