Following her arrest over an alleged mid-flight altercation with two flight attendants, Selma's spokesperson has spoken out saying the actress experienced a medical emergency and did not intend to hurt anyone.

In a lengthy statement shared exclusively with PEOPLE, Blair's representative criticized the coverage of the Oct. 11 incident, arguing that public accounts had relied heavily on a police statement and a decade-old headline.

"Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency on the flight. There was no attempt to open the door of the aircraft. Selma did not intend to harm anyone," the spokesperson said.

Her representative also addressed speculation questioning Blair's multiple sclerosis diagnosis, describing such claims as "outrageous." Blair publicly disclosed her diagnosis in 2018 and continues to experience daily pain, according to the statement.

The spokesperson explained that Blair also has pseudobulbar affect, a neurological condition associated with her MS that can influence how a medical episode appears to others. The actress travels with a service dog that was reportedly taken from her by authorities following the incident.

The statement further highlighted Blair's professional and advocacy work, noting that she has worked on seven film and television projects in 2026, launched skincare, clothing and eyewear lines, and continued advocating for disability rights and the MS community. It also cited her work supporting the Jewish community amid rising antisemitism.

"There is much more to this story than has been reported, and we ask to consider the entirety of the facts before rushing to judgment, whether in the courtroom or in the court of public opinion," the statement concluded.

The Cruel Intentions actress, 54, was arrested at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport after allegedly assaulting two crew members aboard a Delta Airlines flight from Los Angeles.

Blair was charged with two counts of second-degree assault. She appeared in court on Oct. 12, pleaded not guilty and was released on bail. The FBI confirmed it was investigating the incident.

Blair's representative has urged the public to consider the circumstances surrounding the latest incident before reaching conclusions.
