Ray Stevens is recovering after a frightening experience.
The country artist, 87, was hospitalized in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 29 after fracturing his neck in a fall.
The Grammy winner, 87, was advised by doctors to wear a neck brace for "approximately four weeks,” a statement shared to his Instagram on April 7 read of his recovery, noting that he's currently “recovering at home.”
"Despite the injury," the statement said, "he is completely ambulatory and in excellent spirits as he continues his treatment."
Following Ray's injury, fans wished him a speedy recovery.
"I'm really sad to hear that! Ray, I am praying for a rapid recovery!" One person commented on the post, while another added, "Woah!! Thank God he is on the mend."
However, this is not the first time the "The Streak" singer has suffered a health issue in recent times. Ray, who has daughters Suzi and Timi with his late wife Penny Jackson Ragsdale, had to miss many performances last summer due to an emergency operation after suffering a heart attack.
"Country Music Hall of Fame member Ray Stevens is in recovery after undergoing minimally invasive heart surgery yesterday morning," according to a statement posted on his Instagram in July. "Ray complained of chest trouble and was sent to a Nashville hospital. Following a cardiac catheterization operation, it determined he’d suffered a mild heart attack.”
"Ray's initial surgery was successful," the statement added, "but performances at his CabaRay Showroom are understandably cancelled through July 2025 as he recovers."
A day after the procedure, he stated that he was recovering.
"Ray is out of the ICU and starting to walk the halls as therapy with a nurse's help as he works to recover from this surgery," a message posted on his social media said. "Ray is extremely grateful for all of the cards and get-well wishes. Everything is still beautiful!!!"
