New details have emerged following the death of Patrick Muldoon, with official records confirming the circumstances surrounding his passing.

The actor, known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, died on April 19 at the age of 57. According to his death certificate, the primary cause was a heart attack.

The document also listed additional medical factors, including a pulmonary embolism and hereditary coagulopathy—a genetic condition that affects how the body forms blood clots.

A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot blocks an artery in the lungs, disrupting blood flow. Combined with the clotting disorder, these conditions were identified as contributing to the fatal heart event.

Muldoon's remains were cremated on April 28, as indicated in the official report, which also noted his profession as both an actor and producer.

Before his death, Muldoon had remained active in his career. Just days earlier, he shared excitement about an upcoming project, writing, "So excited to be a part of this amazing project KOCKROACH," referencing a crime thriller he was involved in as an executive producer.

He rose to prominence playing Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995, later returning to the role in 2011. He also appeared as Richard Hart on Melrose Place and took on the role of Zander Barcalow in the 1997 film Starship Troopers.

Following news of his death, tributes poured in from colleagues and friends. Actress Alison Sweeney described the loss as "heartbreaking," writing, "Pat was a rare kind of person, brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit."

She added, "He brought his unique charm and humor to work every day. A truly gifted guy, and one who will be profoundly missed."

Lisa Rinna, who played his on-screen sister, also shared a tribute, posting a photo of the pair with a broken-heart emoji.

Muldoon is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart, as well as his parents, siblings, and extended family.
