Jake Hall, a British artist who originally rose to prominence on the reality show The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), died on May 6 in a horrific accident at a property in Mallorca, Spain. He was 35.
According to The Sun, Hall died from head injuries caused by shards of glass. Local authorities who responded to the property confirmed this.
According to BBC News, the Spanish Civil Guard is investigating the incident, although it "appears to be an accidental death." They are presently awaiting the autopsy results.
Hall has an eight-year-old daughter named River, whom he has with Misse Beqiri, a fellow reality star who has been on Ladies of London and The Real Housewives of Cheshire. Following the announcement of his death, Beqiri's representative shared a statement on her behalf.
"At this time, Misse's focus is on supporting and protecting their child as they come to terms with this devastating loss," according to the statement sent to E! News. "The family are asking for privacy, compassion, and respect while they grieve privately."
Hall originally featured on TOWIE's 14th season in 2015 as Vas J. Morgan's pal. He was involved with the series through its seventeenth season and used to date his costar Chloe Lewis.
"Jake was a member of the TOWIE family for many years," a statement from the show said, according to the BBC, "and we express our very greatest condolences to his family and friends following today's extremely sad news."
In the comments section of Hall's last Instagram post, novelist Roxie Nafousi lauded him as "such a sweet soul."
"I know things weren't always easy for you, but you never gave up, and you really loved your little girl more than anything in the world," she said. "This is quite upsetting. "Keep dancing up in heaven."
After forays into the fashion world, Hall had turned to pursuing a career as an artist in recent years, largely at the encouragement of his daughter, River, after moving to Mallorca, where he grew up.
"I was always waking up in the night; I couldn't sleep, and then, one day, we moved to Spain," Hall said in an interview with Entitled1, "and my daughter said to me, 'Daddy, let's draw.'" It took me out of that zone, that dark place. My daughter took me out of that place by simply doodling and drawing."
Just hours before his death, Hall shared a video montage featuring clips from his time in Mallorca. The movie included a video of Rive dancing, Hall painting on sheets, spending time with friends, and visiting the island where he lived.
"Life is bollocks sometimes, but I'm going to try to remember the good things," he captioned the image. "Looking through things—I'm just making art in many forms."
