Jason Lewis has opened up about life away from Hollywood, revealing that he has spent recent years working on an ambitious nine-book fantasy series.

The former Sex and the City actor shared details of the project during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Speaking from his home in Costa Rica, Lewis explained that the series is inspired by large-scale fantasy storytelling similar to The Lord of the Rings.

Lewis said the books combine elements of fantasy and science, though he stressed the focus remains on magic and storytelling rather than technical scientific explanations. While the series references ideas connected to physics and quantum theory, he described it primarily as an epic fantasy saga.

The 54-year-old actor became widely known for playing Smith Jerrod, the younger boyfriend of Samantha Jones, portrayed by Kim Cattrall, on Sex and the City. His character was especially remembered for supporting Samantha during her cancer battle in the series.

Since stepping away from the entertainment spotlight, Lewis has embraced a quieter lifestyle in Costa Rica where he focuses heavily on writing. According to the actor, he spends time working on the books every day, usually writing in two-hour sessions and aiming to complete between 1,000 and 2,000 words daily.

Lewis revealed that the story is structured across three separate trilogies. He described the first part as an idealistic tale, while the second explores how good intentions can lead to corruption and darkness. The final section focuses on redemption and recovery.

Although the series has not yet secured a publisher, Lewis said he is already on the fourth draft of the seventh book, which serves as the entry point into the larger narrative. He explained that the themes throughout the books revolve around power, morality, agency and the consequences of personal choices.

The actor also spoke about his fascination with physics and theories connected to the nature of reality. He mentioned being influenced by ideas from physicist Richard Feynman, particularly concepts involving spacetime, energy and matter.

Earlier this month, Lewis returned to social media after a lengthy absence, posting his first Instagram message in three years. In the video, he explained that he stepped away because the creative process demanded his full attention.

Lewis said he felt ready to reconnect publicly now that the project had progressed far enough for him to begin sharing details of what he has been building behind the scenes.
