Influencer and cookbook author Nara Smith has shared heartbreaking news about her family. In a video posted to Instagram on July 1, the 24-year-old revealed that her daughter, Whimsy Lou, was diagnosed with cancer late last year.

"When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER and they didn't quite know what to make of it," Smith recalled. "When we took her into our paediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm ... My heart dropped in that moment. I don't know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom's intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer."

Following the paediatrician's advice, her husband, model Lucky Blue Smith, took Whimsy to a children's hospital. After a series of tests including X-rays, ultrasounds, and a biopsy,  doctors confirmed the diagnosis.

"They immediately called us and said that she had cancer, told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatments immediately," Nara said.

The couple, who married in 2020, are parents to four children: Rumble Honey, 5, Slim Easy, 4, Whimsy Lou, 2, and baby Fawnie Golden, born in September 2025. Lucky also has a daughter, Gravity, from a previous relationship with model Stormi Bree.

In her video, Nara explained why she has been posting less online. "Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging," she said.

She admitted that she struggles "on a daily basis" to find balance, adding, "Some days are a little easier, some days are really hard, and all I can do is try my best and show up in all those areas in the best way that I can."

Nara also shared that speaking with other families facing similar battles has brought her comfort. "All of that combined really brought me a lot of comfort and alleviated the feeling of loneliness for me," she explained.

She said her intention in sharing Whimsy's diagnosis was to help others feel less alone and to encourage people to take their health seriously.
