Craig Melvin has addressed the security breach at the Today show studio, just one day after an intruder confronted him inside 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

During the July 17 broadcast, Melvin took a moment to acknowledge the incident, saying, "Thankfully, he was apprehended quickly. He was placed under arrest. We are cooperating fully with the NYPD as they investigate the matter. We are just very happy that everyone is safe."

Co‑anchor Laura Jarrett reassured him on air, adding, "We want to make sure that you're safe." Melvin replied, "Safe and sound."

The suspect, identified as 41‑year‑old Andrew Truelove, allegedly entered a restricted area near Studio 1A after asking for Al Roker. When he couldn't find Roker, he confronted Melvin, reportedly lunging at him and shouting a racial slur.

Security detained Truelove within seconds, and NYPD officers arrested him shortly afterward. He now faces multiple charges, including hate crime burglary, hate crime menacing, hate crime criminal trespass, and harassment.

NBC confirmed the breach in a statement, noting, that a man managed to enter a restricted area near Studio 1A, where he approached anchor Craig Melvin before security intervened. The individual was detained on the spot and later taken into custody by law enforcement.

No one was injured during the incident, and there was no physical altercation. The network has said it is reviewing its security procedures and remains focused on ensuring the safety of its staff, guests, and visitors.

Al Roker also expressed support, posting, "You come after one of us, you come after all of us."
