Speaking to PEOPLE alongside fellow executive producer Natalie Ento about their new reality series Team Moms: Baseball, Kardashian, 45, revealed that her sons, Saint, 10, and Psalm, 7, once wanted to give the sport a try.
At the time, the boys were interested in experimenting with different sports. However, Kardashian quickly discovered that baseball required far more time than she expected.
"My boys wanted to play baseball, but it was at a phase where they wanted to try everything and every single sport," she recalled. She said that after spending around three hours at the baseball field, she began thinking another sport might be a better option for her children.
Kardashian admitted that the experience gave her a new appreciation for parents who spend countless hours at baseball games and practices.
"So much respect to baseball parents," she said. "It's long hours."
The confession comes as Kardashian prepares to introduce viewers to Team Moms: Baseball, a reality series following parents whose children attend a competitive baseball training school in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The idea for the show came from Kardashian and Ento's own friendship and shared experiences as sports parents. The two friends have traditionally taken their children on sporting adventures together. During one trip to Spain three years ago, they attended a soccer tournament, where Ento, a coach, began sharing stories about the intense personalities and situations she encountered among sports parents.
The friends soon realized that the world of youth sports could make compelling television. They eventually developed the concept and presented it to several networks, all of which showed interest.
Although Kardashian and Ento initially considered making a show centered on soccer or basketball, they ultimately settled on baseball.
Ento and Kardashian first became friends after their children attended preschool together. Ento said their relationship grew from their shared love for their children, despite having very different lifestyles.
Team Moms: Baseball follows mothers navigating the competitive world of youth athletics as they support children hoping to become future stars. The series explores friendships, rivalries and the drama that can unfold among parents away from the field.
