Kelly Ripa has revealed that her latest back injury happened in one of the most unexpected places — a hotel bathroom.

The 55-year-old Live with Kelly and Mark host shared the story with the studio audience during a commercial break, later appearing in a behind-the-scenes clip posted on the show's Instagram.

"You want to hear what I did? It's really embarrassing. Guess how I hurt my back?" Ripa asked the audience.

One person guessed she had injured herself while bending over, but Ripa quickly revealed the actual culprit.

"Sitting on a toilet," she said.

Ripa then demonstrated what happened, explaining that the toilet paper holder at the hotel was positioned on the opposite side from where she was used to reaching for it.

"Typically, the toilet tissue is on this side, like a normal person," she explained while gesturing to her right. "We were staying at a hotel, it was over here."

She then showed herself reaching across with her right arm.

"So I went like that and hurt my back," Ripa said, adding a dramatic reaction to the movement.

"Yeah, I said it," she joked. "I hurt my back sitting on a toilet. Okay?"

The injury comes not long after Ripa took time away from Live while recovering from gum graft surgery. She previously explained that she needed the procedure because years of over-brushing had caused gum recession.

"I brush my teeth too much. It's a good-bad habit," Ripa said on her Let's Talk Off Camera podcast before undergoing the surgery.

Ripa had delayed the procedure for about five years, saying she had planned to wait until retirement before finally going through with it.

Her husband and Live co-host, Mark Consuelos, had previously revealed that the recovery was particularly painful, despite Ripa usually having a high tolerance for dental procedures.

Ripa also admitted she struggled to follow her doctor's instructions during recovery, including being told not to talk for several days.
