The realm of Eternia Is set to come alive as Nicholas Galitzine steps into the muscular boots of He-Man in the long-awaited ‘Masters of the Universe’ film. The project, which has been in the works for over two decades, is finally set to grace the silver screen on June 5, 2026, under the banner of Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel.

Galitzine, who has captivated audiences with his performances in ‘The Idea of You’ and ‘Red, White & Royal Blue,’ is now poised to embody the blond barbarian hero, a character that has inspired generations since its inception as a Mattel toy in 19823. The film, directed by Travis Knight of ‘Bumblebee’ fame, promises to be an epic adventure that will transport viewers from Earth to the mystical world of Eternia.

The journey of ‘Masters of the Universe’ to the big screen has been fraught with challenges, including changes in studios, directors, and cast. Initially set up at Warner Bros. and Sony, the project found its way to Netflix before budget concerns led to its cancellation in 2023. Directors such as John Stevenson, Jon M. Chu, McG, and the Nee brothers have all been associated with the film at various points.

The screenplay, penned by Chris Butler following initial drafts by David Callaham and the Nee brothers, remains shrouded in mystery. However, it is known that the story will follow Prince Adam, who crash-lands on Earth as a child and returns to Eternia as an adult to confront the malevolent Skeletor. To triumph, he must unravel the enigmas of his past and embrace his destiny as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.

Produced by Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch, along with Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner, ‘Masters of the Universe’ is part of a slate of 15 live-action films in development at Mattel Films. This lineup includes intriguing projects like Daniel Kaluuya’s ‘Barney,’ Jennifer Lopez and Anthony Ramos’ animated ‘Bob the Builder,’ Lil Yachty’s heist thriller ‘Uno,’ and Vin Diesel’s ‘Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots’.

Julie Rapaport, head of film production and development at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed her excitement about bringing the cherished franchise to life and praised Galitzine’s immense talent. The film is expected to be a cinematic celebration that will captivate audiences from here to Eternia.

As Galitzine’s star continues to rise, his portrayal of He-Man is eagerly awaited by fans and critics alike. With a history of successful collaborations with Amazon MGM Studios, the actor’s upcoming role in ‘Masters of the Universe’ is set to be a landmark in his burgeoning career.
