Czech Republic beauty won the competition held in India

Krystyna Pyszkova, the striking beauty from the Czech Republic, clinched the coveted title of Miss World 2024, amidst the glitz and glamour of the prestigious event held in Mumbai, India, this past Saturday.

Notably, this edition marks the 2023 installment of the world's second-largest beauty pageant, initially slated for 2023 in the United Arab Emirates.

In a regal ceremony at the Jio World Convention Centre, Pyszkova was adorned with the crown, graciously handed over by Poland's Karolina Bielawska, the reigning Miss World 2021, who magnanimously extended her reign for another year, concluding her tenure on this enchanting evening.

The journey to crown the new Miss World was fraught with anticipation and fierce competition. Pyszkova triumphed over 115 contestants, notably besting Yasmina Zaytoun of Lebanon, who emerged as the first runner-up.

Beyond the traditional rounds of evening gown and spontaneous questions, the contenders were evaluated across diverse categories including social work, Top Model, multimedia, debate, and sport.

How was the winner determined?

Throughout the elimination stages, participants were grouped by continents, with 10 advancing from each group to the quarter-finals, followed by a series of rigorous selection rounds culminating in the ultimate showdown. Notably, representatives from the United States and Mexico, Victoria Disorbo and Alejandra Díaz de León respectively, faltered in the initial elimination round.

The triumphant continental winners included Ache Abrahams from Trinidad and Tobago (Americas), Lesego Chombo from Botswana (Africa), Krystyna Pyszkova from the Czech Republic (Europe), and Yasmina Zaytou from Lebanon (Asia/Oceania), each showcasing their unique charm and grace on the global stage.

Adding to the spectacle was India's own Sini Shetty, a 22-year-old sensation who captured the hearts of the local audience, earning thunderous applause and multiple standing ovations as she vied for the coveted crown.
