The Golden State Warriors endured their heaviest home loss under head coach Steve Kerr, falling 125-85 to the Boston Celtics in a humbling display. This 40-point blowout marked the Warriors' largest home defeat since a 45-point loss to the Dallas Mavericks in 1985.

Despite Kerr's impressive tenure—winning four NBA Championships with the Warriors since 2014—the team was no match for the Celtics, who dominated from start to finish. The defending champions, leading by 15 at halftime, piled on an astonishing 43 points in the third quarter alone, further asserting their supremacy.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 22 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists, while Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown added 18 and 17 points, respectively. In contrast, Warriors star Stephen Curry scored 18 points but struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 4-of-12. Moses Moody contributed 13 points, but Andrew Wiggins had a rough outing, going 1-of-11 from the field and missing all four of his three-point attempts.

The Warriors were also hampered by injuries, missing key players like Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Kyle Anderson. Speaking after the loss, Curry reflected on the team's struggles, saying, "When we can't score, we lose spirit, life, and competitiveness. Against some teams, we get away with it, but not against the defending champs. It's not a good formula for success."

This marked the Warriors' sixth 40-point loss since relocating to California in 1962. Despite the blow, Kerr maintained confidence in his team. "We're not a team that gets layups or free throws. Shooting threes is our DNA, and when they don't go in, it's a tough road," Kerr explained. Acknowledging the defeat as "demoralizing," he emphasized the need to move forward, stating, "We've got to flush this one down the toilet and get ready for Sacramento."

The loss leaves the Warriors sitting 11th in the Western Conference with a 21-21 record, a stark contrast to their promising 12-3 start to the season. With the Sacramento Kings up next, the Warriors will need to regroup quickly to reignite their playoff hopes.

For the Celtics, this victory solidified their second-place position in the Eastern Conference standings, trailing only the Cleveland Cavaliers, as they continued their championship defense.
