Sophie Cunningham has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Indiana Fever, the team announced Sunday, keeping a key contributor in place following last season's playoff run.

Cunningham is among several players rejoining Indiana after helping the team reach the semifinals. Guards Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull are also returning, providing continuity as the Fever look to build on their recent progress.

The roster already includes young standouts Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, both of whom remain under contract. Indiana has also strengthened its lineup through free agency by adding Monique Billings and Ty Harris.

During the 2025 season, Cunningham averaged 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting more than 43 percent from beyond the arc across 30 appearances. Her

season was cut short in August due to a right knee MCL injury, which sidelined her for the remainder of the campaign.

The 6-foot-1 guard joined Indiana ahead of the 2025 season after spending the first six years of her career with the Phoenix Mercury. She was originally selected in the second round of the 2019 draft following a standout college career at Missouri.

In another notable free agency move, Alanna Smith has agreed to a three-year maximum contract with the Dallas Wings. The forward earned co-Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2025 during her time with the Minnesota Lynx and has established herself as one of the league's top defensive players.

Smith's arrival strengthens a Dallas roster that has also re-signed key contributors like Arike Ogunbowale and Awak Kuier, while adding Jessica Shepard. The Wings hold the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft, positioning them well for further roster improvements.

Last season, Smith averaged 9.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and nearly two blocks per game, showcasing her impact on both ends of the court. Her move marks another significant shift as teams continue to reshape their rosters ahead of the new WNBA season.
