The New York Liberty have reached one-year agreements with free agent Rebecca Allen and undrafted rookie Pauline Astier, a source confirmed to ESPN on Monday.
Both players are expected to provide depth off the bench as the Liberty aim to secure a second WNBA championship within a three-year span. Their additions strengthen a roster that continues to build around a core of established stars and experienced contributors.
Allen returns to familiar surroundings after previously spending the first seven seasons of her WNBA career in New York. The 6-foot-2 forward-guard has since played for multiple teams, including the Chicago Sky, the Connecticut Sun, and the Phoenix Mercury. During her most recent stint with Chicago, she averaged 5.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game, contributing as a versatile role player with defensive capability and perimeter shooting.
Astier, 24, enters the league as a promising international prospect. The 5-foot-11 point guard from France has been performing strongly in EuroLeague competition with USK Praha, where she is averaging 10.2 points, 5.6 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game. Her playmaking ability and court vision are expected to add depth to New York's backcourt rotation.
The Liberty will retain Astier's reserved rights beyond the 2026 season, allowing the franchise to continue developing her talent within their system. Her signing reflects the team's commitment to investing in emerging players while maintaining a competitive roster.
New York has also made several key moves during the offseason. The team recently appointed Chris DeMarco as head coach, signaling a new phase of leadership. At the same time, the Liberty are preparing to re-sign core stars Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones, while also adding three-time All-Star Satou Sabally to further strengthen the lineup.
Additionally, starter Leonie Fiebich remains under contract, providing continuity within the squad. Together, these moves position the Liberty as strong contenders as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The signings of Allen and Astier were first reported by iHeart Women's Sports and the IX Sports, respectively.
