Tiger Woods announced that he underwent surgery on his right leg to address his post-traumatic arthritis that he suffers since the 2021 car crash which left him with a talus fracture, just below the ankle joint.

Woods entered the operation room at HSS Sports Medicine Institute in New York City under the orders of Dr. Martin O'Malley, who determined the subtular fusion procedure was succesful and now Tiger looks forward to his rehabilitation.

It even sounds odd to say it: Tiger Woods is last among those still playing at the Masters.

But after Woods made the cut at Augusta National on Saturday, it all went downhill from there. Slogging through a rain-drenched, 49-degree day proved too much for the aching five-time champion to overcome.

The 47-year-old Woods, who is still recovering from a 2021 car accident that nearly cost him his right leg, looked miserable as he limped through a dreadfully long, exhausting day in obvious discomfort, playing seven holes in the morning to make the cut and then seven more in a steady downpour before the tournament was postponed until Sunday.

By the time the horn blew ending play at 3:15 p.m., Woods was alone in last place at 9-over, 22 shots behind third-round leader Brooks Koepka.

Tiger Woods' caddie Joe LaCava believes that the golf legend will not be distracted ahead of the Masters by the accusations made by Erica Herman.

His ex-girlfriend has filed a lawsuit against Woods. She is accusing the golfer of tricking her into leaving the mansion where they had been living for the last six years.

"Being in the spotlight you're always going to get punches thrown at you," LaCava told the New York Post.

"I think Tiger's been through so many different things in the public eye - good, bad or indifferent - that I'm not saying you get used to it, it bothers you regardless.

This year's Augusta Masters is the first that will coincide with the LIV Golf tour.

The LIV Golf tour is an important course that had not yet kicked off at this point last year.

Augusta National did not close its doors this year to those who met the eligibility criteria, but left things open regarding future developments.

The LIV Golf tournament is slightly different to others in that, despite belonging to the PGA Tour calendar, the organizer of the tournament is entirely in charge of proceedings.

Rory McIlroy came close to securing the Arnold Palmer Invitational title in the final round, but a critical mistake on the par-3 14th hole derailed his chances.

McIlroy had been gradually climbing up the leaderboard with six birdies already under his belt, but his foot slipped as he took his tee shot on the 14th hole. The mistake proved costly, as McIlroy lost his lead and ultimately finished the tournament in fourth place.

The Northern Irishman admitted that the slip was a critical point in the tournament, saying, "If I had known that, I wouldn't have tried to play the shot that I played on 14, which was unfortunate, but I ended up making a bogey there and then a bad swing off the tee on 15 and a bogey."
