The Red Devil’s manager, Eric Ten Hag is hoping to avoid being given the boot by ruining Manchester City’s history chasing a double in the second season in a row. For the second successive season, Wembley stadium will host a Manchester derby in the form of an FA Cup final. Last |year, Manchester City beat United 2-1 in the final in a journey in which they completed the season with an impressive treble consisting of a Champion’s League and the Premier League.

City remains England’s pre-eminent force, as they showed their class by clinching a fourth consecutive Premier League title. United left Wembley still optimistic about the future despite that defeat 12 months ago because Ten Hag had ended their six-year trophy drought by winning the league cup earlier that season.

However this campaign was a turbulent one leaving the Dutchman fighting to save his job. United finished eighth in the Premier League, their worst finish since 1990 and failed to even make it out of the Champion’s League group stage. The boss Eric blamed their woes on injuries but that may not be enough to convince new United c-owner Jim Ratcliff to keep faith in him.

The Dutch coach reportedly caused friction in the squad after clashing with Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, setting the tone for a series of less than pleasurable defeats from Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Fulham, Galatasary, and Copenhagen among others. United barely even managed to make it to the Fa Cup final after blowing a 3-0 lead and surviving a penalty shootout against second-tier Coventry in a semi-final that underlined the flaws in Eric Ten Hag’s team.

Ten Hag’s hopes of staying at United into a third season would be improved if they can spoil City’s bid to spoil City’s bid to become the first English club to win both the Premier League and FA Cup two years in a row.
