Chinese bantamweight division fighter Song Yadong (20-7-1) and American Chris Gutierrez (19-4-2) return to the UFC octagon this Saturday night, December 9, to square off in the UFC Fight Night Las Vegas 83 main event at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States.
It's a bout featuring two fighters looking to move up the bantamweight rankings, with Song Yadong currently ranked number seven in the division, while Chris Gutierrez is ranked 14th. Both are coming off wins in their previous fights on the evening.
Here's how Song vs Gutierrez will head into the main event fight
Song Yadong, also known by his nickname "Kung Fu Kid," 24, comes into this bout off a valuable TKO win over Ricky Simon in the main event of UFC Vegas 72 in April.
Song, with a record of 20-7-1, was able to bounce back from his loss to Cory Sandhagen in his previous bout and is looking to climb the ladder and jump into title contention.
On the other side is Chris Gutierrez, nicknamed "El Guapo", who is ranked No. 14. Gutierrez is also coming off a win in his last fight last October against Alatengheili.
The fighter of Colombian and Guatemalan descent has a record of 19-4-2, with nine wins by knockout and one by submission.
The evening's co-main event promises to be a thrilling fight as one of the UFC's veteran fighters, Anthony Smith "Lionheart", takes on Khalil Rountree Jr. in a light heavyweight showdown that will have spectators jumping out of their seats.
