Building a bigger AI future requires bigger investments, and Meta is prepared to spend big. Meta reported on Wednesday that capital expenditures for 2025 are expected to total between $66 and $72 billion. A significant portion of this money, approximately $30 billion, will be directed into growing the company’s AI infrastructure, including building new data centers and purchasing cutting-edge servers.

Microsoft has announced that Chinese "threat actors" have hacked some of its customers' on-premises SharePoint servers, targeting the data of the businesses using them. Microsoft identified China state-backed groups Linen Typhoon, Violet Typhoon, and China-based Storm-2603 as the perpetrators, saying they exploited vulnerabilities in on-premises SharePoint servers, a version used by businesses, but not its cloud-based service.

OpenAI has revealed plans for its first European data hub, a billion-dollar AI facility, set to rise in Norway. The site, named Stargate Norway, is supported by equal investments from infrastructure partners Aker ASA and Nscale Global. Located near Narvik, the center will run entirely on local hydropower, a move that highlights OpenAI's shift toward sustainable, high-performance infrastructure. The company confirmed it will be the site's first anchor customer.

Elon Musk's xAI, whose Grok, a large language model, has faced repeated criticism for offensive outputs, including Hitler-supporting rhetoric and antisemitic tropes, is now set to provide its services to the US Department of Defense. The announcement, made Monday, will see xAI offer its services under the name "Grok for Government."
