In a shocking turn of events, veteran actor Steve Buscemi found himself at the center of a violent incident on the streets of Manhattan. The assailant, a stranger whose motives remain unclear, targeted Buscemi in broad daylight, leaving him with visible injuries.

The random attack happened around 11:48 a.m. Wednesday in front of 369 Third Ave according to the cops. As Buscemi was strolling through the city, the stranger approached him and punched him in his face. The assault left Buscemi with bruising, swelling and bleeding around his left eye and  was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.

His publicist confirmed the assault but assured concerned fans that he would recover. "Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Midtown Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city. He is OK and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to him while also walking the streets of New York.”

The New York Police Department swiftly responded to the scene, yet no arrests have been made thus far. Investigators are diligently piecing together the events leading up to the attack, hoping to identify the assailant and understand the motive behind this seemingly random act of violence.

"I saw he was with a woman, and then through the corner of the window I saw him trip and fall backwards. He right away got up and ran in the opposite direction. I didn’t see who hit him. It worries me for when we close because we close at 11 and it can get scary around that time,” said  a witness.

Buscemi’s representative confirmed that he was indeed the victim mentioned in the police report, emphasizing the need for vigilance in a city.

This incident is not the only one. Just weeks prior, on March 31, Buscemi’s “Boardwalk Empire” co-star, Michael Stuhlbarg, faced violence of his own . While walking in Central Park, Stuhlbarg was struck in the back of the neck with a rock. Remarkably, he managed to chase down his attacker, leading to an arrest.
