A new chapter is beginning for Isla Fisher. The Wedding Crashers actress and Sacha Baron Cohen revealed a month ago that they were divorcing after 13 years of marriage, and she thanked everyone for their support.
On May 14, Isla shared a photo of herself on her Instagram Stories wearing a green denim jacket and a dress with a purple design while enjoying a beautiful outdoor activity. She included a kissing emoji with the shot and commented, "Thank you for all your kindness and support."
In an April Instagram Stories announcement, the ex-couple—who have three children together—announced their breakup from the previous year, accompanied with a picture of them wearing tennis attire.
"We are finally putting down our racquets after a long tennis match lasting over twenty years," the joint statement from April stated. We mutually filed to dissolve our marriage in 2023."
"We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change," they stated. "Our love and commitment for our kids will always be shared. We are so grateful that you honored our family's need for privacy."
Although Isla, 48, and Sacha, 52, shared some details about their life together over their 20-year romance, the duo often kept the most intimate details close to their chest.
"I get nervous talking about it," Isla told Australian Women's Weekly in 2022, "because I feel like, by not having my relationship in the public domain and not having spoken about how we met or really talked about our marriage publicly, it's remained something private and valuable to me."
The Now You See Me actress had, however, already made some touching comments about meeting her soul mate.
"I don't want to stand on a soapbox and advise anybody," she told E! News in 2022, but "if you marry someone that you have a really good friendship with, everything else seems to fall into place."
"You still get butterflies in your stomach and people sort of tell you that wears off after a few years," Isla stated. "But when you're with the right person, actually it just doesn't."
Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen originally connected at a party in Sydney, Australia, in the early 2000s.
