Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg celebrated his 40th birthday with a heartfelt trip down memory lane, surrounded by family, friends and a special guest – Bill Gates, at a lavish "nostalgia" party orchestrated by his wife, Priscilla Chan. “Grateful for my first 40 years! Priscilla threw me a little party and recreated a bunch of places I lived in the early days,” Mark said in a post on Instagram.
Zuckerberg's Instagram post revealed a series of rare snapshots capturing the essence of his earlier years, as his wife recreated significant locations from his past. Among the recreated settings were his childhood bedroom, where he first delved into the world of coding, and the Harvard dorm room, where he was pictured alongside a smiling Bill Gates on a tiny red sofa and captioned the post “Harvard dorm where I launched Facebook.”
The nostalgia trip continued as Zuckerberg shared moments from his first apartment, captioning it "First apartment with just a mattress on the floor where I stayed until we reached 100 million people.” Additionally, a snapshot of his lockdown office during the pandemic saying, "Office lockdown where we worked day and night to fight off competitors.” He also added posts with a recreated “Pinocchio's Pizzeria” where he used to eat frequently while in college and added the words, “Pinocchio's Pizzeria where I basically lived in college.”
In a heartwarming gesture, Zuckerberg expressed gratitude for the global outpouring of support, "Grateful that people traveled from all around the world to celebrate with me.” He reflected on the significance of these moments, captioning one photo with, "Grateful for my first 40 years!"
Adding to the festive ambiance, Priscilla Chan took to Instagram to share her sentiments, revealing the joyous atmosphere of the bash and playfully noting, “Mark doesn't usually let me go big for his birthday but for his 40th I was allowed to throw a bash as long our friends and family also roasted him. We all had a blast! Let’s just say that no one suffered from a lack of material! Jokes aside, as I reflect on the 21 of Mark's birthdays we have spent together, one of my favorite things about Mark is how he really, truly believes in people. He sees the potential in all of us. I have no idea what adventures are coming next, but I’m here for all of them. Here’s to many more.”
Beyond the personal reminiscences, Zuckerberg's birthday celebration also highlighted his professional journey, underscoring his transformation from a college dropout to the visionary leader of Meta. He is currently the fourth richest person globally, with a net worth of $168 billion.
