Alice Stewart, a respected political commentator and veteran political adviser, has left an indelible mark on the world of politics. Her sudden passing at the age of 58 has left colleagues and public figures grieving.

Born on March 11, 1966, in Atlanta, Georgia, Stewart began her career as a local reporter before moving to Little Rock, Arkansas, where she served as the communications director in then-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's office.

She played pivotal roles during Huckabee's presidential campaigns in 2008 and served as communications director for the 2012 presidential bids of Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

Most recently, Stewart was the communications director for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's 2016 campaign, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to conservative causes. Her Emmy Award-winning journalism and political savvy made her a valuable asset to CNN, where she joined as a political commentator before the 2016 election.

Stewart's unique perspective resonated with viewers. She described herself as "a conservative voice yet an independent thinker," refusing to be pigeonholed into partisan extremes. Her insights on political news were sought after, and she frequently appeared on air, providing clarity and context.

CNN's CEO Mark Thompson expressed the network's grief, calling Stewart "a very dear friend and colleague." Her legacy lives on, and her passion for America and dedication to her craft will be deeply missed.

Former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Asa Hutchinson aptly summed it up: "Alice's sudden death is such a loss to all who valued her friendship as well as her political passion".

In this moment of loss, our hearts are heavy, but we celebrate Alice Stewart's remarkable contributions to the world of politics. May she rest in peace.
