In an unpublished excerpt from her recent Rolling Stone cover story, Grammy-winning singer Billie Eilish opened up about her split from ex-boyfriend Jesse Rutherford, referring to him as "one of my favorite people in the world."

The 21-year-old "Happier Than Ever" artist dated the 31-year-old vocalist of rock band The Neighbourhood for several months before their breakup in 2023. Despite the ended romance, Eilish spoke glowingly about Rutherford.

"That's my guy, truly one of my favorite people in the world," Eilish said of her former flame, as printed in the unreleased Rolling Stone quote.

The "Therefore I Am" chart-topper seemed to take the breakup in stride, even joking that she's done with dating for good. "I'm never dating anyone again," she quipped.

Eilish's warm feelings towards Rutherford post-split are a far cry from the standard bitter breakup vitriol often seen in celebrity splits. The pair raised eyebrows when they first went public in October 2022 due to their 10-year age gap, but appeared smitten throughout their months-long courtship.

Sources close to Eilish stated that while she cared deeply for Rutherford, at her young age she simply wasn't ready for that level of commitment longterm. "She's beenon the road forever and living her dream career," one insider shared. "An intense relationship like that was a lot for her at this stage of life."

Reps for both musicians have declined to comment on the breakup beyond terse statements acknowledging the split and asking for privacy. Neither Eilish nor Rutherford has directly addressed their parting ways on social media as of yet.

Eilish is currently in the midst of her "Happier Than Ever, The World Tour" which has played to sold-out arenas across North America and will soon head to Australia and New Zealand dates beginning September 3rd in Sydney.
