Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian Barker have long buried the hatchet—they promise! On the May 30 episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney decided to address and dispel the rumors of a feud with her sister Kim. The discussion came up while she was reacting to fan comments about her baby shower after she thanked her family members on Instagram for organizing the event.
"Everyone's like, 'Kourtney's trolling,'" she said, referring to the comments. "They think that we hate each other." The mother of four then recounted a heated argument she had with the SKIMS mogul in season 3. The sisters had clashed when Kim informed Kourtney that she would be working on a Dolce & Gabbana campaign that featured a similar aesthetic to the wedding the designers threw for Kourtney just a month prior.
The tension escalated further when Kim revealed that their sisters had created a private group chat without Kourtney, aptly titled "not Kourtney." In response, Kourtney firmly expressed that she "absolutely" did not want to be a part of it, and went on to call Kim "a narcissist" who only cared about herself and her image. The phone call ended with Kourtney telling her sister that she was happier being away from her.
"By the way, I never knew the call was filmed," Kourtney revealed in the May 30 episode, adding that she had a feeling it was recorded after the fact. Though she initially objected to the idea of the call being included in the episode, she acknowledged that the moment was "too good" not to use. In a conversation with the cameras, the Lemme founder delved deeper into her seemingly complicated dynamic with Kim.
"We're sisters, I think people forget," she explained. "They always say on our show, like, 'How are they going to get through it?' and they pick sides and everyone gets really riled up. I'm sure a lot of people have had crazy fights with their siblings. Maybe ours are more extreme, I'm not sure."
Kim later echoed Kourtney's sentiments in a confessional of her own. She also addressed the "huge misconception" that the two hated each other. Though the pair can sometimes butt heads, she claimed that they've always had each other's backs no matter what.
"The thing about Kourtney and I, no matter how crazy things are, no matter what's going on, if she needs something, I'm there, if I need something, she's there," she said. "We'll always be that way no matter what we're going through."
Kourtney's remarks about their relationship highlighted the complexities and intensity of sibling dynamics, especially under the public's constant scrutiny. The incident with the Dolce & Gabbana campaign was a significant source of friction, as it came shortly after Kourtney's wedding, which had been a significant and personal event for her. The overlap in themes between her wedding and the campaign felt like an encroachment on something special and personal, sparking feelings of betrayal and insensitivity.
However, despite the severity of their disagreements, both sisters emphasized the importance of their bond and mutual support. The narrative they presented was one of resilience and unwavering familial loyalty, even when faced with significant personal and professional conflicts.
As the episode concluded, the underlying message was clear: despite the drama and occasional animosity, the bond between Kim and Kourtney is unbreakable. They reminded viewers that sibling relationships are inherently complex and can endure despite intense disagreements and public scrutiny.
