Kelly Bensimon, former Real Housewives of New York City star, has called off her wedding to Scott Litner just four days before the ceremony. The intimate wedding was scheduled for June 29 in Boston, with a larger celebration planned later in the Hamptons.

In a statement to Page Six on June 25, Kelly explained, "I have decided that my two daughters are my priority. I won't be moving forward with this wedding." The decision came as she was about to pick up her wedding dresses from Kleinfeld's Bridal. Bensimon, who shares daughters Sea, 26, and Teddy, 24, with ex-husband Gilles Bensimon, emphasized her commitment to her family.

A significant factor in her decision was Litner's refusal to sign a prenuptial agreement. "He thought that I would enter this union without legal protections in place, that I would leave everything to faith," she told ET. She further explained, "I've worked really, really, hard as a single mother and have always made smart decisions for myself and my family, and that will continue."

Kelly expressed her shock at Litner's refusal, calling it "the ultimate red flag." She told Us Weekly, "I haven't come this far in business and life to start making poor decisions because of a man. He of all people should have understood the need to protect each other before we tied the knot."

Despite her disappointment, Kelly is focusing on her family. "I have decided that my two daughters are my priority," she reiterated. Her rep added, "She was looking forward to an exciting new chapter in her life together with Scott."

Litner proposed to Bensimon during a Fourth of July vacation in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Describing the proposal, Kelly said, "We hopped on a boat and I was driving him around and he was like, 'Go to your favorite spot,' then he asked me to marry him. I was in a pink bikini ... totally not prepared. ... It was very real and genuine."

The couple had planned their wedding as a garden party in Scott's mother's backyard. Bensimon had joked about becoming a "total bridezilla" while planning the nuptials.
