Travis Kelce was thrilled when he had the chance to meet Prince William. The Kansas City Chiefs player, aged 34, shared his excitement on the latest episode of the New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce. He recounted the memorable encounter at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour show in London's Wembley Stadium on June 21.
"Man, he was the coolest guy," Travis exclaimed, with Jason Kelce adding, "He was awesome."
Travis went on to describe how unsure he initially felt about the proper etiquette upon meeting Prince William and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, backstage at the show. He wondered whether to bow, curtsy, or simply shake their hands. "We wanted to be respectful, especially in their environment," Travis noted.
Jason, who also met Prince William and his children, remarked on the deep respect his brother showed during the meeting. Travis jokingly added, "You put your beer like 10 feet away from you," referring to an earlier incident where he held a beer cup between his teeth at another London concert.
Reflecting on the encounter, Travis expressed admiration for the royal family's down-to-earth demeanor. "They were wonderful people, and that's what matters," Jason elaborated. "Being part of royalty, it's hard to stay grounded, but they completely managed it," Travis added.
Travis was featured in a photo shared by Taylor Swift, standing alongside Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte backstage. The image was later reposted on the Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram account.
Overall, Travis Kelce cherished the opportunity to meet Prince William and his family, describing them as genuinely cool and welcoming.
