Kim Kardashian is stepping into a new role as both star and producer of the upcoming live-action Bratz movie, set to be developed by Amazon MGM Studios. Multiple reports confirm that Kardashian, 44, is "being eyed to play the villain in the project," while also joining the film's production team alongside Erik Feig and Julia Hammer of Picturestart, and Jason and Jasmin Larian of MGA Entertainment. MGA CEO Isaac Larian will serve as executive producer, with Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick penning the script.

The film marks a bold attempt to replicate the success of Barbie, which earned $1.44 billion and became the highest-grossing film of 2023. According to Amazon MGM, Bratz has sold over 200 million dolls since 2001 and boasts the highest social media engagement of any toy brand. Yet, it remains to be seen whether this digital popularity will translate into box-office success.

This isn't Kardashian's first venture into acting. She recently appeared in American Horror Story: Delicate, starred in Netflix's upcoming The Fifth Wheel, and is working on Hulu's All's Fair by Ryan Murphy, where she also serves as executive producer. Additionally, she's voiced characters in two PAW Patrol movies and appeared in films like Disaster Movie and Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.

The new Bratz film will be the second live-action adaptation of the beloved dolls, following the 2007 release Bratz: The Movie. It's currently unclear if any original cast members will return. Meanwhile, the Kardashian family's ties to the Bratz franchise extend beyond Kim—her sister Kylie Jenner launched a Bratz x Kylie collection in 2023, featuring fashion dolls inspired by her iconic looks. MGA CEO Isaac Larian described the collaboration as introducing "a contemporary style icon who grew up on the dolls into the Bratz Pack."

Despite the industry buzz, public reception has been mixed. Some social media users have reacted harshly to Kardashian's casting. One Reddit user remarked, "Nobody asked for this. Why is Kim an actress now?" Another added, "It pains me to have to give this a miss, but I hate the Kardashians and don't want to give any of them my money." Critics have labeled the project a "dumpster fire," urging fans not to support it financially.
